The Maggot, Soulgrinder of Nurgle

Picking up straight from my last post, here is the second miniature that convinced me to go for Nurgle Daemons in the first place. Actually, it wasn't so much a miniature but rather a conversion idea for a miniature. When leafing through a WD one day, I stumbled upon lots of pictures of the Skaven Hell Pit Abomination (HPA), and out of the blue, it simply struck me - this would make a great demonic body for a Nurgle Soulgrinder!

The conversion was really easy to pull off, to my delight. The head was taken from a Brood Howler, a Dark Age mini, as I wanted to go for maggot, not rat, with this one. I also pimped up the mechanical base of the model a lot, just compare it to a regular Grinder. I still think that this is the best conversion of my army, at least up to now. It just really works.

    1. Heh... I actually had to google the 'The Thing' reference, wasn't familiar with it... but yes, something along those lines.

I'm really thrilled to have you visiting here, the Spikey Rat Pack was the main inspiration for me to kick off this blog in the first place.

  3. Fantastic, a few of the parts don't really fit but the amazing paintjob brings it all together

    1. You know, I get this "not really fitting" sentiment a lot. Can't really say it's unintentional though, it's part of my particular style of converting minis. Some people also find my creations too exaggerated and over the top, but to me, that says I' doing something right.

My intention is to unsettle as much as to please.

    2. Oh I believe chaos should be upsetting and uncomfortable. Chaos is after all a perverted and degraded vision of life filtered through the worst and best of humanity. So great work!

I was however refering to the odd way the lower stomach abruptly changes. No biggie just struck me as a bit odd

    3. Yes, the belly discontinuity is mostly due to the ending of the scar tissue, though it looks far worse in the pic than it is on the real model.
It is an original part of the HPM model, not greenstuffed or anything.

  4. Aha, pics are always dangerous that way since it's so easy to zoom in on the details
